About the Free Image Blur Tool — Privacy & Faces

Blur regions of an image to protect identities or hide sensitive information. Useful for sharing screenshots, posting photos with bystanders, or redacting documents. Draw rectangles over the areas you want to obscure and pick a blur style — gaussian, pixelate, or motion.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Upload your image

JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 10MB.

  2. 2

    Mark areas to blur

Click and drag to draw rectangles over faces, license plates, or anything sensitive.

  3. 3

Download the redacted version. Original stays untouched.

Frequently asked questions

Can blurred areas be reversed?

Strong gaussian blur is irreversible for practical purposes. For maximum security on documents, use a solid-color rectangle (black-out) instead.

Does the tool auto-detect faces?

No — face detection is intentionally manual. Auto-detect on browser-side ML is unreliable enough that we don't want to give a false sense of privacy. You draw the rectangles yourself.

Which blur style should I use?

Gaussian for natural-looking obscuring, pixelate for a stylized look, motion for a sense of movement. All three are equally effective at hiding detail.
